Default Engine rebuilds.

Just getting some info really. Mine needs a rebuild as it seems have a 24% cylinder leak on piston #2!

Don't want to skimp, but don't know fuck all about engine builds either.

I won't be doing it myself, But will be helping out. Reckon its worth building the whole engine if its just rings gone?

Will find out the damage as soon as I have the head off, but that won't be for a while, as I'm to busy!

Deep joy. LOL

yeah i'd say definitely worth rebuilding the lot, while its in bits being rebored everything will have already been removed... it'd be a shame imo to refit a tired oil and water pump etc

and as for the to end... if you rebuild the head so the valves are all nicely lapped in, new seals etc and a good quality head gasket... there should be no reason to ever strip the engine again... unless you want headwork/uprated valve springs or the engine shits itself

Good luck with the build radders

in all honesty mate it's not that hard to do. take some time stripping it down...don't rush it though! make notes of wheres things go. Keep everything super clean once removed too, this helps loads when re-assembling. then just get hold of the specs and tolerances of the engine and you can have a go at building it.

If you're going to the trouble of doing rings then you may aswell do the bearings too, and oil pump would be a good idea too.

If you are only going to help out, then try to watch as much as possible.

not too hard to build a bottom end mate, granted that theres engine building and then theres building a mighty engine, but if you want a standard engine and you reasonably mechanically minded aslong as rings are gapped correct, in the right order and everything torqed etc should be fine. I personally think if its apart get crank ground if needed, balanced etc as this helps loads, no put putting a crank that needs grinding or something back otherwise engine will never have good oil pressure. anyways if your unsure im gues thats why your looking at learning and seeking help and best of luck to you

Looking forward to it anyway
