in all honesty mate it's not that hard to do. take some time stripping it down...don't rush it though! make notes of wheres things go. Keep everything super clean once removed too, this helps loads when re-assembling. then just get hold of the specs and tolerances of the engine and you can have a go at building it.
If you're going to the trouble of doing rings then you may aswell do the bearings too, and oil pump would be a good idea too.
If you are only going to help out, then try to watch as much as possible.
