I rent a room out in my home, some Korean girl came to see it, and decided she wanted it,
she seemed to have a few problems understanding english, but i though well she works so must get by, and needs to get used to my accent?

anyway, she left a deposit and said she will move in another week, thus leaving the room vacant and unrented for a week,

She said she would move in today, sunday she called me, just before i was ment to be working, and said she will be round in an hour. i said i cant as im working and you need to give me some notice, as i work etc, and told her she said monday anyway.

I told her she can move in today between 1pm and 7pm, as at 7:30 i am ment to be working, she said its cool, then i call her at 2pm today as i want to go to the post office, she said, she wants to move in at 8pm. i was like wtf, we agreed, andyway she got her boyfriend on the phone and i was like wtf to him too, and asked if he can meet me where im working, i was like if you want to try and enter MOD property without permission, and said i wont be home until late,

So now she decides she dont want the room, and i am going to keep a weeks money from the deposit for holding the room for a week and her fecking me around,
is that unreasonable.??

 

KEEP THE MONEY MATE IF IT WAS THE OTHER WAY ROUND IM SURE THEY WUD BALLS TO EM

 

save the aggro mate and give her it all back, for the sake of Ł75 (or whatever it is) it aint worth the aggro - if you did keep a weeks money and then you find your car has been keyed......................

Is her boyfriend from here.. or are they over here for a few months, sort of backpacking around?

If they're just over for a few months then I'd just keep the deposit.. however, if they're based over here permanently then I'd give it back as they might have a network of friends that could cause aggro. From car being key'd to really nasty stuff like shit on your doorstep or fire pingpong balls from her snatch at you etc....

didnt you get references,, if so why not give her a key,,, you got a deposit and its not like you aint gonna let her in unless your home is it ???

 

problem was, she wanted to collect a key when i was ment to be working, so cant win.
and the bf is eastern too.

 

cant you meet them on lunch,, or leave the keys at a desk when you go inside

imagine if they have no where to live that night ( btw have you mentioned its for one person only )

im with doji also on this at the same time,,,, hence i would never rent a room,,,, hell i wont even let family stay overnight

 

Don't worry about the deposit keep it all, given her previous record of failing to get there when you are at home, she will never get to see you to get the money back.

OR will she suddenly be able to get there on time?

You are totally within your rights IMHO, but as above for the sake of a weeks wages, im not sure its worth the aggro if it means your car gets keyed etc.

 

Id just give it them back and get someone decent next time. Take your time until your 100% happy with the person/s. As said, not worth looking over your shoulder for the sake of a few quid.

 

how much do you rent out for a month? what size is the room? and what area if you mind me asking/

Take out the money for another advert and a pint or two and throw the rest back at them if they make any funny squeaky noises. At least you found out now that she's not really reliable. Its not worth the hassle for a few quid IMO.

I don't mind having a lodger as I've got the space to, but I certainly wouldn't let anyone in the house that wasn't either someone I knew or a friend knew. Sod putting locks on doors, etc...

 

I would let them have it back and be nice to them.
The other option is stay awake all night/day for weeks/months worrying about the slightest noise, I wouldn't want to give it back but cheap piece of mind if you ask me so would myself.
I know myself I have taken revenge on people as long as 20 years later!!
