mod to rev clock when on coilpack ?
Its detailed in the instructions when you buy the coilpack isnt it?
Im sure I have a copy somewhere, failing that im sure stu has a PDF
At least you CAN do it on a saph, no definitive fix still on a 3 door one that im aware of
Im going to try the diodes route on mine.

apparantly the mod has been done and it did work fine but its started playing up now giving false readings it never goes above 5k now and seems to read about 50 % of true rpm. im wondering what i can check or if i need to get a new rev clock and have the mod done whatever it is.

Another thing to check - make sure you are still getting full battery voltage up in the high rev range - remember, on boost, the fuel pump will draw much more current and the voltage the ECU/IAW sees will drop significantly if the wiring is old and past its best. The IAW needs above 12 volts to make the rev counter work efficiently, any less and the rev counter will fail to work.
How do I know this - I found out accidentally when a coolant hose split, thus soaking the alternator, reducing the output to 9 volts and the rev counter stopped working utill the alty was producing the correct voltage once again.

battery voltage is 14v flat out on secs so thats all good.

3 diodes, the case, some instructions, the time to write it all, 30 quid sounds perfectly typical to me, cant see why you would hope one way or the other, not like he could afford to do it for a fiver after all!
