I've had it ten years, brought it round from the folks on Tuesday and I had to blow the dust off it and set it up

I feared it wouldn't look good, but the picture is quite awful You can really see the differance flicking between GTA IV running on a gold plated HDMI cable and the N64 running via aerial, and the controller feels weird to hold compared tp the PS3 ones, especially the wire

 

So was Jet Set Willy on the 48k Spectrum

Goldeney was the best game for it IIRC, 4 player deathmatch probably spawned Halo on the Xbox.

MY bird at the time bought me the Nintendo 64 Goldeneye pack which included the console, goldeneye and a gold controller which I don't think you could buy retail on it's own.

Shortly afterwards she copped the elbow

 

I never actually got the last level open on Goldeneye..... did the Moonraker level b4 it on Agent and Secret Agent but never quite did it in 00 Agent to open up and see what the last level actually was.....

Goldeneye on the N64 was the bollox of a game.....!!!!! (still got it in the loft)

 

I haven't unlocked the last 2 levels, guess you have to progress through on the harder settings ?

 

I cant play any FPS without using a mouse - I am just shit and give up instantly.

The problem is that the quality of your TV shows up the poor picture quality of the aerial socket, this happened when I plugged the old ps1 in to my LCD. On HDMI the picture cable is sent in a digital format (1's and 0's) so the gold connector is not making any difference, much like the gold cable USB leads! GTA 4 is running at 640p on the PS3 and scales better on your set, where golden eye is probably running at 240p and thats why it looks really bad on your set.

I didnt own an N64 but is there an option in the menu's to set it to progressive output?

 

I don't remember how / if to get into the N64 menu systesm

 

Gold scart lead is pointless unless the scart connectors on the TV are also gold. The coating on the metal doesn't play any factor unless they are both the same, as it's all about surface to surface conductivity. A nickle scart socket and gold plated scart plug will actually give WORSE results than using a Ł2.99 nickle scart lead!

 

goldeneye is fucking awesome! i've stolen my n64 from my parents house for that game only! i used to be the best amongst my friends... they still all refuse to play me on it now if i offer a game

 

Ha i could tell what game it was right away due to playing on goldeneye loads,yeah try using a scart lead as the rf is shite anyways although the N64 in the uk aint rgb but it will be an improvement over the rf lead.
