so popped in and decided to wind them up a bit and test their knowledge
Im standing with the laptops, and a woman comes over asking me if im ok. I pointed that I was "interested" in this laptop with 1gb of ram. I asked the lady if it had an expansion port underneath to stick an extra gig stick of ram in if i wanted (AFAIK most modern laptops have one dont they?). She just said: "That would be quite difficult, you'd be better off buying an external harddrive instead"
Then I pointed at some speakers behind it. I asked how much are they (I have a set exactly the same). She goes speakers start from 20 quid. I asked her again how much THOSE ones are. 70-80 quid she replies. I got mine for £42 about a fortnight ago!!
What a bunch of tards

point is if you know what your talking about and looking to buy laptop/pc whatever then do your own research and if you don't know then go and listen to what the comet/pcworld/dixons sales person has to say because it won't matter if they get their facts wrong as you won't understand the jargon anyway!

to be fair on the women, adding more ram to the laptop would void the warrenty, which i'm sure their told not to incurrage. also, dont they have a "tech department" that your supposed to ask those sort of questions at?

i try and confuse peole as much as possible when i want to buy stuff online
i go to shops and find out what i need to find out, then buy online
if the stuff is confusing enoug to confuse the peole who souldnt't be confused becuase their job is to sell it to me then hwo do you think i would feel not having someone to go back to say "wtf yo on about? you said it would do this and that but it don't do jack?"
but for big stuff i do tend to buy from a shop, namely so that you can see if they will flog you the ex demo stuff and very cheap prices, richer sounds do this, as well as curry's etc so you never know

I understand where your coming from on the warranty thing. But I was more amazed at the fact she thinks an external HDD would be an alternative to expanding your ram. Or the fact she is confusing RAM with harddrives. At the end of the day its basic stuff when you work in an electronics shop. I wasnt expecting her to know the exact screen res of the top of her head or the CFM rating of the fan.

Doubt it tho
