Hi, I have a 2WD sapphire cosworth which I have owed for the past year or so, it has developed a problem lately, it drives fine but when on boost it is just coming towards fully power and then it drops off as if something is letting off the pressure, I let off the throttle and back on it comes to the same point and then it cuts again, I have been reading on some of the threads and the "AMAL" valve could be the problem. My problem is I cannot find the amal valve on my car, where is this located on a 2WD sapphire. My car also has been to well lane turbo at some stage and I have read on other post that they remove the amal valve. Does anyone know if this is true and if they removed it what would be used to control the boost. Does anyone have any other suggestions as to what may be causing this problem. I am living in Ireland and most garages here don't know one end of a cosworth from the other. Thanks in advance

 

the amal valve is usually fitted to the top of the intercooler (if still standard cooler fitted) if it has been removed there will be a bleed valve in its place which will be somewhere in the vacume pipe coming from the actuator, before you try changing the amal valve try a new actuator first as when the spring inside them go weak they are unable to hold the boost which gives the situation you described above.

 

Could be lots of things, even a blocked fuel filter.

Take it to a tuner. For the sake of £150 its well worth it. They will sort all the problems and set it up. Best money I ever spent on mine.

 

the amal valve is normaly on top of the standard intercooler. There shoud be three pipes going to it.
