Nice one mate, now start fixing the thing and get it going proper! pics? spec?

if its got a dump valve, thats most likely why it keeps stalling, it'll be fucked or a diaphragm type! bin it!

lol at no brakes, reminds me of the time when we really needed to get a fooked fiesta si from one mates farm to his other mates workshop 5miles up the road. It had no brakes and we had no way of towing it so we waited till about 2 in the morning and drove it lol. Scary thinking of the some of the things we used to get up to lol.

sounds good for the money check the inlet for leaks and maybe the vaccuum pipe for the servo.
could spend plenty on that and have a very nice RS as it only cost Ł950 to start with

see you've given us all your postcode in the link so we know where a tidy shell is living incase we need one or any bits of it and if you could do us another favour and leave the keys somewhere by the letterbox i'd be most greatful. On a more serious note looks like a nice clean example you've picked up there and the stalling does it happen on tick over if you just start it and leave it idling or only when your driving it

if you use the throttle can you get it to tick over at around 1000 rpm and if so is it then smooth at this level. also when engine's off and you move the throttle by hand under the bonnet does the little black box on right hand side of inlet pipe click as soon as you move the throttle
