Specs out so far - 2WD, 280ps, 400Nm

 

Would of considered gettin one if it was 4x4 or rwd & 350 + hp

Think it looks good (apart from the spunk bubbles), jus dont have what it takes where it counts !

with 280 std i doubt it will take much to get it to 350 brake but i agree it should have been that already, i suppose fords arguement could be its the same power as a evo seeing as they make a 280 brake walmart evo lol

it really needs to be 4x4 and with the minimum of 350bhp...if not whats the point...nothing more than a beefed up ST... come on FORD stop pissing around.. get some balls, and do a proper RS with some decent power FFS

 

As has been said before, they will sell every single one without a problem. They don't need to build a huge power 4x4 to compete with Mitsi/Scoob.

Ford know that those who want a big power RS will be able to get them to that power relatively easily, but for the general public 280bhp is ample.

Give the car a chance and let's see how good it actually is, rather than just guessing!

I seriously can't wait for this thing to come out (but I'm not dull enough to part with cash for a deposit just yet!). My ST is going in December so hopefully the RS will be available by then or it'll be another ST and the RS in Sept 2009

Love the slightly wider track (unless it's an optialcal illusion off those wider arches)

Looks disappointing imo, just hope it ends up looking more like the green one!

 

Apparently the green is the same one used on the WRC cars, its gonna have a eletronicly controlled diff similiar to the m3 a powershift box as well, i bet its gonna be a great handling car.

 

I doubt i'll ever afford to buy one, so in that sense makes no odds what power it's running too me. Looks wise I think it looks ok

 

It is the 'test' version, so the production version is likely to have more 'cosmetic' additions. The green one was just a CGI done a year ago, and not intended for public consumption. Ford aren't too happy that it's 'got out' - possibly because it looks better than the actual car.

 

Stickers distort the lines of the car - so you can't see the final look.

The current focus ST, competes against the Astra Vxr, Civic Type R, Golf GTI, Seat Lean Cupra R, Megane R225 and others in the hot hatch class. It competes very well and from EVO mags stats its at the top of the table for 0-60 and 0-100mph due to the engine but the handling is a bit soft compaired to others

So what does this compete against??
Golf R32? BMW 130i? the bus? walking?

Its widely known that with a decent intercooler, exhaust, induction kit and remap a focus ST will make 280bhp or more. so is this just fords own effort at it?

Or has ford shat out of taking the fight to two of the best drivers cars on the market and really put itself back in the limelight as a maker of decent drivers cars for people who want a bit more than a flash badge and posing value.

Waste of time really, the old focus RS is good, but from owners on here in the wet its a handfull at standard bhp, so adding 68 more bhp is not going to help things.

 

It should be at the motor show which i should be going to if i can aquire the day off work if i can then it will be sweet and will take alot of pics!!!!!

I was on a diff forum the other day and some guy reckoned he was at the ring when they test that car, and he said that he sneaked a look under the back and it had 4x4 running gear.
Prob bollocks but we will see.

 

they tested a 4x4 one i think.. heard they were supposdly relasing a 4x4 with the fwd but seems to be bullshit as ford have no bollocks

 

It's not just a chipped ST, it's a different engine revision with a larger turbocharger
