Default heatwrap and manifolds...

how much is roughly needed to heatwrap a manifold on an ERST? and what width.

The amount I cannot tell you, but I would be wary of wrapping the exhaust manifold pre-turbo as apparently they can crack from the heat increase.

Isn't that on stainless manifolds??

iv seen some big power zetec turbos using the std rst manifold wrapped n never heard of them cracking!

This is only what I have heard from people who have wrapped their manifolds, hence "apparently".

I did my old one with one roll from rapid ford, think they wanted about £20 for some metal zip ties so I just used jubilee clips

its a ball ache to do properly and cost me about 100 to do turbo aswel id get it ceramic coated like mine for around 150

I've seen erst manifolds crack without heat-wrap (around the collector), so wrapping them can only make that worse.

its for my orion, and i want to run a standard bonnet until i can get a turbo one painted so want to keep temps down.

that looks alright, can you remember if it was the 1" or 2"?

the price for the metal ties sounds about right, they're a right swizz in most places. but in that case, ebay is your friend
