Default Annoying alternator belt squeak, any ideas?

Ive got an annoying squeak when the engines running which I was told I needed my alternater belt replacing and that'll cure it.

I replaced one belt then after about a month the squeak came back so I replaced it again and low and behold the squeak is back!

Anyone got any ideas as what it might be thats causing it to squeak?

Cheers

Lee

Wouldnt that squeak from when it was put on though? And the chances of 2 new belts being put on too tight by 2 different Ford mechanics...? Im not sure although im no expert?

I'd say the hole in the alternater mounting block is ovaling causing the alternater to sit slightly twisted.

So to someone that knows (not me!) the alternater will look out of position then?

id say its not aligned properly, the grease will work temporarily, as will replacing the belt.

just check everything that it revolves around to ensure everything is tight, it would only need one bolt to be the slightest bit loose and something wont sit quite so square to what it should be.

i definatly wouldnt say the belt is to tight as its on a sprung loaded tensioner.

as Kelv said the belt is not tightened manually, it has an auto tensioner, sometimes the auto tensioner gets weak & lets the belt get a bit slack thus causing noise.

it could also be that the belt that was originally causing the squeek has left some residue on the pulleys which has now transfered itself onto the new belt

this should be fairly easily visable theough and it was much more prevalent on the V belts than the serpentine ones which i think you would be refering to if it's an auto tensioner
