Default What power can i expect?

I have a standard rs turbo s2 with 114k miles, it has good service...
but i wont more ooomph out of the car!
will the car be alright to modify?
like a chip? will the engine take the extra power?
or is it a case that the engine has too many mile to modify?
any guys who have had experience modding a high miler?
any suggestions?
i dont really want to rebuild the engine as my budget just cant be stretched..

My old s2 was upto 150K it was chipped on a 195 turbosystems chip, running about 16psi, -31 actuator, filter, zorst, wen't well and engine was still good when I broke the car so sold it on.... But yea, you run the risk of it going bang, but if u chip it and do little bits and make sure it is setup by a reputable tuner on the rolling road u can't go worng

Can most people vouch for this?
i have heard that turbosystems are the only guys that can remapp the standard ecu on rs turbos..
is the turbosystems chip the best then? or is this just another gimmick?

might be an idea to turn the boost to only 12 or 14 or something. just chipped mine recently and its a lot of strain on a high mileage engine. but all depends on the condition of yours i suppose!

I had a 106k rst and just raised the boost to 10psi (max without being chipped) and had it rolling road tuned to 153bhp not bad and you notice the difference.

i think i might go down this route.
but then again having 10psi, or goinf for 12 -14psi cant make that much stress on the engine.
i spoke to a few tuners who have susgested i get the piston cyclinder leakage test and a compression test done.
i might try these before i go for a chip or boost rise.

definitely have that done first. if the results are poor then it wont take kindly to doubling the boost!

if your goin for over 10psi you have to get it chipped and make sure you get a decent chip

i thought it didn't matter about the chip and it was all down to the way it would be setup?

As long as the engine is basically sound ie not knocking or rattling and the cylinder head gasket is ok you shouldn't have any problems running something like 14 psi boost.

I have a 130K car which has a collins chip and runs 14 psi no problem. Just make sure that when you do get it chipped you get it setup at the same time by someone who knows what their doing.
