imo go for ap's m8 the problem with hispec is that geoffs a cowboy. His product is a budget product and his service is sh*t i wont ever buy off him again but this is just my opinion from actually dealing with hispec

i think the problem with hispec is its a small family run buisness trying to compete with the likes of ap, they know the problem is waiting times and are at present trying to adress this with new premises and machinery to triple production.in respect to the question i really have not tested mine to the full but fookin hell they look good.and if you think ive taken a bung to write this i have paid the going rate for mine.and yes i to had to wait make umpteen phone calls swear and curse etc to get there.hi spec was started as a hobby in the family house back yard and im all for any buisness trying to ave ago in the shark infested motor trade

i used one of his big brake set-ups on a previous car and although i was quite happy at first over time i realised they were shite, kept eating his discs every 3 months as the calipers werent aligned properly. and he kept charging me a fair amount for the new discs, once i discover that the mounting bakets werent much cop he said id somehow overheated them and buckled them and id have to pay for new barkets aswell!

speaking to others thru a car club at the time proved that i wasnt the only person that was having these exact same problems but yet he would still fob me off!

my own personal opinion of Geoff and his brakes is a big NO NO and id certainly steer clear of him at all costs.

I think you have taken a bung .You admit you've never given the brakes a good thrashing on track + you admit it took ages to get the brakes after handing over the cash .As for looking good, bloodly hell, brakes are there to prevent death and injury to both the persons in the car AND the innocent people in the street, something not to be taken lightly, something Geoff Bedding does by letting substandard brakes out of his workshop.Lastly the car game is full of sharks, but Lo Spec is one of the biggest shark's in the pond!!Regards Micky

Ive got a big disc kit on mine, its done a few track days and there still fine.
Im impressed with them for the money.

But if i was to upgrade to aftermarket calipers i reckon i would pay the extra and go to ap.

micky.hand on heart no bung fella.and as for taking mankind lightly that is something i would never do as i said ive yet to use my brakes in anger and god forgive if that day comes im confident they wont let me down ,i do my research thoroughly and have not heard anyone having brake failure with them if one person had said theirs had failed obviously my opinion would be different.you obviously have had bad experiences.but i can only go on what i know.regards artie

utter shite, why piss about with brakes that are hit and miss when AP's are near enough the same money, and 110% PROVEN RELIABLE AND SAFE AND SUPERB??? I think RSJP summed it up nicely, "wank" - you might want to have a word with him about some AP's as well

I use AP calipers, but use Hi-Spec discs, and bells.

They get absolutely abused to fuck on track, as the car doesn't go anywhere else.

No complaints about the discs or bells at all. Can't comment on the calipers at all.

there are only 3 main brake specialists, ap, brembo ,alcon the rest are just wank ,if you want to stop you have to pay for it ,and to be honest ap are not that much more than hi or low spec kits, you pay your money you take your chance ,but it has been said a few times now about these so called monster kits are just wank, my thoughts only though as i do supply ap kits and ive just come back from the pub

a tired rsjp
