Question t3.4 turbo how to tell if it is

when i went to msd in jan was told in report my t3 turbo is worn ! a mate of my bro has a fiesta rs turbo he is gettin rid off and he reckons it has a t34 on it , i'm goin to see whether he will swap + cash for my turbo but don't know what i'm looking for any clues as to markings (to prove it t34 )etc and what sort of cash adjusment is fair . he has no reciept it came with the car etc , so don't know whether it bull or not about being t34 , don't they look the same as t3 ?

one of the easiest ways to tell is that it will have/have had the actuator bracket cast into the cousing rather than bolted on.

unless its been converted to run a cossie downpipe, you may need to change the exhaust housing.

also you will have problams with the manifold part of the housing as the studs will be taken out and holes drilled bigger to make fit the t3 manifold.

The other point is the air entry point is MUCH larger on the T34 versus the T3, some T34 had NO cast support as std.
It could also be a converted T3, compressor housing machined out to T34 size with escy trim wheel, as mine.
This is something you CAN have done to yours as well, so why not phone up the TURBOCENTRE and speak to Andy or Craig, about prices, as they start from £100.
Get a 360 bearing at the same time and it will last longer!
