Just acquired a power roof pump and rams and the centre console with the switch in for my mk4 escort cabby, anyone know how to wire it up?
A nice pretty picture would be nice

Before you do anything, check the pump sprocket (plastic bit in the pump that normally shreds its teeth).
Chances are that will be worn and will end up leaving you in trouble with the roof stuck up, down or somewhere in between.
Get a metal version, I think the Escort Cabriolet Club have a source who makes them) before you do anything with it near the car.
As for fitting it, it is a case or removing the roof rams (you use the pump ones in their place), fitting the unit, making a holder for the relay in the boot area near the pump, run the wiring down the car, connect the supply to the ignition circuit so that it only goes live when the ignition is turned off.
Oh, and make sure you have the later nearside panel cover as they are different for the manual and electric ones.

Whereabout is the pump sprocket? I've not had chance to check it all yet.
Ideally i'd like to wire it so that I only have to press the button once and the roof will come all the way down rather than holding the button until its done and the same with raising it back up.
Would an electric window relay be the best type to use?

The sprocket is inside the pump unit, but reasonably accesible.
You would need 2 relays (1 for up, 1 for down) and they would need to be either from a MK5/6 Escort, a Granada 1985-1994 model, or from a MK1 / pre 1997 Mondeo.
