Read somewhere here before think something about lifting the rubber seal up or something?

But basically water manages to drip at the end of the rear 1/4's into me boot as its only wet around there. Kinda doing me head as i need to get it sorted. Pretty sure its not the light as ive checked and replaced the seals.

So would anyone else know where else the water would be seeping into the boot from?

Was gonna say check your rear light unit seals but if you have changed them (don't do up too tight) it could be the boot rubber itself or water could seep in through where boot spoiler bolts onto the tail gate/boot lid,

best thing to do is get in the boot with a torch shut the lid and then have someone hose the car down with water, hopefully you will then detect where water is getting in

could also be that the boot catch is not adjusted properly and it isnt fully shut!!! try tightening it a bit so the boot is pulled down more

 

check the center post on the boot spoiler where it bolts through the boot lid, the bolts can come loose and allow clearance to let water in.

 

Thanks for the suggestions lads. Lying in the boot with a torch sounds funny lol but is a very good idea so if need be ill have to try it.

Hopefully bolting down the spoiler and sealing it at the same time. Will also check the catch just hope i can get it sorted

Mine was the corner join near the rear window, where the metal overlaps.
Looked fine but i put some sealent down join and now its fine and dry.

Just pour water over the rear light, and you will most likely see it trickle in, near the lower mount points, especially if it is on the NEARSIDE ONLY ?

If i open the boot-lid and pour water in on top of the light do u mean or even if the boot lid is closded pour it into the top of the light yeh?

If it is weeping through what could that be the rubber seal behind the light? I replaced the light with good seals?

 

Open boot lid and pour on top of light unit, it will trickle down the lower edge of the light inside the boot if the std poor seal design.

sunroof drain tubes in behind the quarter trims,may have moved....

 

I sealed mine up with thicker better foam, if you measure the aperture where the light goes you will see it actually varies from left to right on sapphy's!!

the numberplates surrunds on the 90 spec cars also let in water if the boot seal overflows

and don't discount the boot look either
