He'll probably waste you in a straight line and properly spank you round corners but good luck.

surely the fact mine wil have more torque and less weight should make a difference. there no good till 6k revs?!?!?

if not, what will be needed to help me keep up if thats the case?!

clio 172's aren't a problem but thats the only "performance car" i've come up against.

just wonderin if anyone has had a runnin with one with a similar spec?

if i cant beat him will just have to sell up. theres a nice white saph across the road from me for sale, so i'll have to knock on his door!

if you cant beat him do more to the car you got till you can, not as much satifaction in wasting a modern day every1's got 1 car in a cossie as in a 1.6 8v ERST?

They might be no good to 6k revs (not true actually), but in a race situation, why would he ever be under 6k revs anyway?

It will rinse you. No doubt about it. Standing start, in gear, top speed, round the bends - anywhere you like - hes gonna have the edge.

on dyno charts it shows the torque peaking around 6k n its only 145!
so on a starding start with a lsd and torque peaking sooner it must give a some sort of chance when dabbling in fast road driving.

even if it doesnt boost has gotta be more fun the v-tac!?

My old S2 was 156atw, so about 180atf.

I had a dingdong with a TypeR one afternoon, was prettymuch neck and neck, he had the power to pull out to pass me, almost side by side and he was in the lane of oncoming traffic so i slowed to let him in. I rekon he was faster but not by much.

i raced a civic tyre R in my old turbo'd bonus (151bhp) could tell it was quicker but it just showed who had the bigger bollox when he slowed down...

but yer at the end of the day, if hes a good driver and got some guts then the tyre R is going to come better off...

just make yours quicker and dont tell him lol...

my old rs was 200bhp, stage 2 chip, stage 3 head and cam, uprated cooler, stage 2 turbo, every type R i came up against I thrashed, even off the line. Get your power of your rs up a bit then you'll be fine. And you'll upset him even more when a 20 year old classic comes flying past his jap crap.

My mates ctr went like f*ck I always thought mine was more exciting the way the power comes in
he would eat me alive on corners (we got proper corners round here) esp in the wet

He's got a clio sport now and they are easy

a civic type r is it hitting 60 in about 6.5 secs! so get your rst tuned!!!! there are mental on the bends to!!! my teg has matched a 260 bhp(running high boost!) mk4 rst and its 240 bhp and weighs 1148kg compared to the 800kg or so a mk4rst weights, it isnt the off the line speed with these cars its the 50-120mph speed, put it this way a good k20a engine will out perform a scoobie above 50mph!
hope this helps!

but im guessing your FRS isn't standard then? as 1 of my mates has a ctr and one has an frs when the frs was standard the ctr could quite happily pull away from it after 3rd gear, now the frs is running 300bhp its a diff matter of course

all depends on the driver of the ctr if he knows how to drive it then there a quick little car

i think it depends on which ctr you get, they seem to range from 194bhp to 212bhp standard.

thats according to the figures from a rolling road day TDI north for the type r owners club and the guy thats sellin said he's got the print out for this car and its 206bhp with 148lb torque.

so things aren't looking good, i'll have to use my cred card to sort the power up to a more level playing field!

Firstly, your going to sell your car because your mates just bought a quicker 1? WTF!

Secondly, this torque win's race's thing was written as a marketing slogan by carol shelby IIRC.

Sadly it doesn't. An F1 car probably has around 250ft/lbs. So around 450ft/lb per tonne.
An Artic lorry tractor unit weighs around 8 tonnes and has around 2500 ft/lb's. That gives it 312.5 ft/lbs per tonne. Which will be more than you, and not far behind an F1 car.

Now tell me torque makes a quick car.

The CTR's torque is amazing from 1500rpm's to the redline it gives 85% of it's max torque. if you think your going to win on the torque baised bit, race him in 4th gear from 15mph to the limiter.

that answers that question then.

i'd sell my car to beat him, thats what he did! had a 1.6 sport now he's buyn type r because he's fed up of me thrashin him!

i'd love to wipe the £10,000 smile off his face by beating him and if it means buying a faster car thats half the price i will!

Nice little car.

1.1 gearbox might have something to do with you been up the strip, also his launch etc.

I'd only be interested in both your terminal speeds.

Sounds more like a rival than a mate, has he been caught shagging your bird or something?

I've got a mate with a quicker car and a lot with slower car's i have good banter with them all and even say i'm going to rip the 1 thats quicker than me, but I can't say i'd go out and buy a new car just to wipe a smile off his face.

Also, if a car came past me on the road i'd be happy as it would be a quick car and been into car's etc it's something i like to see.

it's friendly rivalry, its just niether of us can stand gettin beat! and if either of us lose you dont hear the end of it! as hard as i try to accept the fact his car will be faster he wont let me forget so something has to done!

i didnt come on here to try and find ways to sabotage his car or anything! just want to get an idea of what i'm in for and at the monent it doesnt sound to good! but if theres a will theres a way!

i wont be coming second! lol

mines only running 6psi due to a few issues at the mo and on a regular basis i chase ctr home ( can't keep up but he hasn't got that much on me) along the ring road- with 1 bar i would be very suprised if you did not beat him (i know him from work and he doesn't hold back in his ctr)

specially top end and mid range as the torque will help

My 200bhp rst used to be quicker then the ctr's, and I've had both.

My Escos makes them look silly lol

ps my mate has a 106 rallye, with the 16v gti engine fitted, and that keeps up with ctr's all day long, not bad for 128bhp

I came across another one yesterday. At first I thought it was a fluke, second time I thought it was just lucky, but the 3rd one, which I did off a roundaboooot, and from a standing start upto the speed limit I'm convinced they're not that fast!

Made it all the better when the lad at the next set of traffic lights and his Mrs both started clapping
