Swerv, lifts are "Meant" to go to ground floor in the event of a fire alarm. I would contact the owner of the lifts as your life could of been at risk!!

Me and Stu got stuck in a lift a couple of years ago in a hotel at MarkK's wedding LOL, we were in there for about 40 minutes with two old people that were blaming us for having too much luggage pmsl.We were not best pleased as they were both extremley overweight so we felt they really didn't have an argument lol!!

Me and a mate decided to see what happens if you pry the doors open on a lift as its moving, turns out that it stops between floors when that happens, and you cant get out, DOH

It was while we were at uni, and we were on our way to an exam, we got stuck for over half an hour and ended up late

Definately wasnt my smartest decision to try it then

Not necessarily - depends on how it's set up. There is no UK requirement AFAIK

There are different things it can do as well. Sometimes it will stay put at ground floor until the fire brigade show up, then they can use the lift. The operation changes a bit - they need to hold the button in to make it move, and then the doors don't open unless they press and hold the open button.

Useless fact for the day

Swerv, was there actually a fire in the building?
