Need help finding owner of some land

There is a small plot of land near me and I am trying to find out who owns it. Anyone recomend the best course of action. I know the local council dont own it but am stumped after that!

ordanance survey,ad in paper,there must be a title for the land so maybe try the titles and deeds registry office.dont ask me how but i know such a place exists!good luck.

yeah gonna have to go into the office I think. Was hoping for a online way to get a clue really! I dont want to put a ad in the paper as I dont want to raise any interest in the land! lol
