TDCI, Tappy Engine?.
Hi
Am going to buy an 03 plate Fiesta Zetec 1.4 TDCI. Compared to the VW PD diesel engines it sounds really tappy sounding, The car has a FSH and only covered 40k, No smoking when putting your foot down etc. Am just wounding is this normal for the Ford diesels?.

It may be a chuffing sound. The engine is prone to the injector o rings going on them. Also check the steering rack as there seems to be a problem there as well. Just changed my injector o rings all in was £56 for the seals, hours of labour though. around 4-500 pounds at ford though as loads of labour involved.
