hi all I was talking to someone the other day and they said that I can get rid of my cat of my rs2000 1992 J reg and the MOT man wont say anything is this true ????

 

i would check first with the MOT station before cutting it out

 

My understanding is that 1993 (K) is the cut off year. Anything before doesn't have to have a cat, anything after has.

 

I believe also though that aslong as the car passes emissions it doesnt have to have a cat either when it comes to MOT testing time.

it might pass emisions anyway with out the cat, my integra did

 

1 August 1992 onwards most require a 'cat' test.
Some K and L plate don't require them anyway.

And that can also depend on how much whiskey it takes to bribe your MOT man with

 

Or just by are thats cool enough to not be fitted with one anyway (i,e Mk1 Orion ).

if your engine is running good enough and it passes their emission test the mot man will not say its failed because it has no cat,its very unlikley that your car would pass without one (after aug 92)but if it does what can the mot man fail it on

RS2000 or mk1 orion? I know which i'd rather have

 

It's all down to personal preference my friend i would'nt mind an rs2000 but i would rather my orion quite a few less around than the rs2000. but once i sorted my Onion it will be rather quicker than most RS2000's . and mine doesn't need a cat!!! :P

 

I was going to have a Ferrari F430, but they have cats
