Advice on disputing insurance pay out.
My Old dear had someone drive into here last week, which as a resulted totalled the car. The other party has accepted full responsibility etc. But the insurance has come back with £1500 below what it would cost to replace the car!!
Tbh it is really pissing me off, making me feel i want to travel to insurance HQ and lamp the fookers out. My mum bought the car from brand new and was 100% mint with mega low mileage etc. So if she wants to replace it like for like she would ONLY go to the main dealer again to buy the car of same age/mileage etc. SO she got a price and said fair enough would move £500 off that which brought into a range of £1500 dispute not full 2k which i would be going for personally. Anyway to compare she got prices from few garages and the medium price came out at the £1500 above what insurance is offering.
The little prat on the phone said he will only pay original amount, so anyone know the route to take it further? Its going to some other people at the insurance, but would like to know proper route and what people may have taken before?
I think its disgusting as pay all this money for insurance and get treated like shit for it. My mum is rightly upset as it was he first new car she has had and due to someone else she is massively out of pocket.

refuse the amount your in the driving seat as other party admited liability, refuse and tell him you want more, just say to replace what i lost will cost blah blah blah, send em clippings from autotrader etc if you have to, if you can wait on the payout go for it, they prob will offer more the next day anyway
whats the details ont he car

I had the same - some pissed up muppet ploughed into my car which was parked outside my house, the insurance company offered me bugger all and i had to fight like crazy to get a decent amount back - print off ads from autotrader of similar cars in that condition and millage as you mums and let them know that you'll be sending them across for a more reasonable settlement. No one asked them to write her car off so why should she be out of pocket?? (i gave them so much grief that it was my pride and joy that they allowed me to take parts off my car like wheels and performance bits before it was collected, virtually stripped the fooker by the time it was taken!!!)
When you say current market value you talking trade? Trouble is imo they should pay the amount it cost to replace the car. So that in this case should be from main dealer etc.
Car is 206cc 04 plate. Old dear does not like the fact she has lost a car she knows the history of etc. But fair enough suppose shit happens, but they shuld replace the average price for same spec car across Peugeot dealers imo.
