Default Mondeo td gearbox fault

Right I'm not a newbie when it comes to engines but gearbox's are something that I haven't had much experence with.
I have a mk2 97 plate mondeo 1.8td estate.
I'll list the faults with it and tell me what you think.
Engine will start sounds great.
You have to press the clutch to start it or it will turn really slowly like it's trying to turn the main shaft.
It is really hard to get into gear. It feels like the gearbox has locked up as I can take the handbrake off and try and push it and it will not move.
There is no 5th or reverse gear.
The gear selector feels sloppy and excessive play.
The clutch pedal feels soft.
If anyone lives near Newton Abbot in Devon this would help.
I think,
1 - Gearbox fault.
2 - Gear selector
3 - pressure plate , hydraulic clutch

Thanks tabetha.
Does any one have the allignment tool to relocate the subframe or know where I can get
one?
I've never had to replace the subframe on a mondeo before.
I know that if I screw up, the car will handle like a pig.

You don't need one.
Just use insulating tape, wrapped around the bolt until it is a snug fit in the subframe hole, insert bolt until it is flush, wind up tape gets squashed out of the way, doing no harm.
