any1 know a good job agency for electricians in london/essex
Ive been doing building maintenance for a few years now and am a bit bored of it really.
Bit too easy and repetitive, days dragging on and a lot of shift work.
I fancy doing propper electrical work. Bit of contracting maybe.
Anyone got any companys they recomend trying?
I live in north east london quite near essex so anywhere round that area would be great.
dont really fancy getting the train into town.

Ah, would'nt bother with electrics just yet mate, there updating the regs again.
There currently at the 16th edition and are being swaped over the new 17th edition at in june. Course's are available now but the deadline is june.
So if ur not qualified at all then id wait till september so u can start learning the new 17th edition regs from the off but if u are already qualified then you will need an update course. The price of the update course varies from college to college.
Im paying just over Ł300 for my update and that include's a free copy f the on site electrical giude and a free copy of the 17th edition wiring reg's book

Just did the 17th course for the last 3 days, there are quite a lot of changes...
0.4 second disconnection times for all finals up to and including 32A for a start.
Bathrooms have done away with zone 3 completely. Supplementary bonding can be omitted if other conditions are met. RCD protection for all bathroom circuits. You can even put a socket in a bathroom as long as its 3m away from zone 1 IIRC (If you have a bathroom that big
)
RCD's also for all socket circuits, with one or two exceptions...
Also a few more special locations including fairgrounds and marinas! Woooo!

my boss is pretty good and would rather use the companys money to help me out than let me pay

i also passed the practical part of inspection and testing, but as im not doing it every day i found the theory pretty tough and they tried to cram it into a 2 day course.
i might try and get put on a inspection and testing course before i leave too thinking about it. if i can get one spread over a few weeks i should be ok.
