i dont know the answer to this but i would think i wouldn't be any differance than just a full standard clutch

i have a standard clutch on mine and there's plenty or pad on there but the standard pressure plate can't grip it hard enough under heavy load

i think the most important part is the pressure plate and not the plate/pads i may be wrong but i think im right. somone will say if im wrong

I just cant see the point. The 4-Paddle cover was designed with the heavy clamp load in mind. Give it low clamp load and it probably won't grip which is worse with a Paddle than if you had a standard clutch as the Paddle material is far less forgiving.

Matters on the power you want to run.

3 advantages

a paddle plate, cover and flywheel will last alot longer,
the pedal wont keep braking due to the cover plate pressure,
Cost.

I`ve about the 200 bhp mark and i`ve gone through a standard clutch in 5000 mls, now it`s only a new engine and on an xr3i box so it`s got an easy life, now that there`s an lsd box in it the clutch is slippin like mad, standard pressure plate is just to soft. i`ve an AP organic clutch and h/d pressure plate to go in.

Anyone looked at stepping the flywheel so the 'fingers' are getting more pressure applied to them?
Instead of the flywheel being flat: ________ it will have a step __i----i__ in the centre (like a top-hat cross section) to add pressure to the fingers once bolted up

I'm having slipping clutch issues but don't want to go for an on/off style clutch so looking into this idea first.

i've stepped mine this time round.

But this is due to another reason, as i tested the pressure of different cover plates, and stepping the flywheel does not add pressure.

Do tell Dan: my g/box is coming off this weekend so looking at alternatives
Plus why doesn't stepping increase the pressure?

i've had my old cover skimmed, and to get it to release as it should the flywheel needed stepping by the same amount.

Stepping wont aid pressure on the covers i've tested because once the cover plate reaches a certain pressure, it moves from fully clamped to fully released with out any real pressure needed.
