OK guys, just wondering if there are actually any half decent models for around this money. Obviously going to be more of the Mk5, but I kinda like them.

Hell, I'd even settle for a decent XR3i

biggest problems with these cars is rot, chassis rails are just the worst followed by arches & sills, engines if well maintained are pretty bullet proof. 2wd models are more nippy but as mark said the 4x4 models if mechanically sound are a great handling car but parts for these 4x4s are very expensive, gotta be looking closer to £2k for a avergae one or your likely to pick up a pig, £3k+ is where all the good ones are
