Default Bare shell respray on Escos?

I know its a big job but does anyone have a rough idea how much a drive in drive out bare shell respray would be on a Escort Cosworth?

Cheers

Lee

I`d want the engine bay done as well as its starting to get surface rust especially around the battery tray.
Would of thought there were people on here that have either had it done or have done it to a customers car.

I take back the Ł3.500+ and now say Ł7k +

Just to put another slant on it, I am just going though this with one of my cars, car is stripped of glass, trim lights etc. Needed 2 new wings fitting ( Bolt On) some welding to the body and has been stripped of all paint.

Will be given back to be fitted up with doors, bonet, bumpers engine cover sill covers Ect Ł12.500 inc vat and materials

Still got to fit all trim glass myself, Was quoted Ł9k at 1st also got quoted from Ł3 k to Ł18k

Paint work or body is manly labor and at around Ł45 per hr so dont take long to mount up the ŁŁŁŁŁ

I wouldnt sand blast a car tbh would rather it was chemically dipped and stripped less harmfull towards panels as car panels are so thin sand blasting puts small imperfections against the metal slightly stripping the metal of its strenght witch is never a good thing also sand is a bugger to get all out of the nooks and crannies

If i was to do it (homer job) not including getting it dipped ide do it for 2k including materials. That would be including plastic primer and flexibilizer additive for plastics etc and inside out obv

Ide imagine from a good bodyshop to do this job you would be looking at approx 7/8k atleast dependant on condition of car and also what colour

look mate i restore fords day in day out and dont think your car will need as much as you think if its an every day car there is no point doing underneith as it wont last the escort is easiest cosworth to do body wise as the parts come off easily id have to see it but i recon it is alot better car than your making out

get the whole underside of your car steam cleaned and then put it in a garage with a heater to dry it then have a proper look underneith

i would charge around Ł2500 to do the outside of the car and inside all shuts as striping the inside and painting it is pointless unless you want money waisted
id strip the top out of the engine bay and do down to the legs as and sort the bat tray

and if it is being used every day the underside needs a coat of wax oil to stop it rusting use clear as black just looks like shults and is a mess

Kinda agree with Jacko on a few things. Also served my time with ford 12 years ago and even then seen some esco's in some nick body wise but must be scottish weather lol.In saying that had an esco's rally car imported from africa that had its fair share of rust aswell

Inside (as Jack pointed out) 9 times out of 10 is a complete waste of time and effort unless its a colour change or on show same as underside but i always do as a customer asks even if i do think its gonna look hideous

Im looking to paint inside, outside, underneath, etc on Me Esc Cos. I will strip the engine bay down and either paint it myself or pay a mate and do the same with underneath and inside (Cheaper option and not bothered too much how it looks as long as its rust treated and will last). Then I will pay a mate with his bodyshop to paint the outside (Again I will strip)...

Jacko/Snedboy, why do you say painting inside/underneath is a waste of cash? Would it not prevent rust from appearing for a few years atleast (If done properly)?

No as painting inside wont actually stop rust or anything like that. Rust starts from untreated area's exposed to water that iseant waxed properly. Best thing you can spend money on in a bodyshop is getting them to waxoil inside car i.e a,b,c pillers floor, sills behind dash etc etc etc then steam clean underside and do same again especially inside chassis legs etc and once dried a good shutz underneath and job done

IMO ofcoarse

the reason i said what i said mate was the fact that he said he was using it as a daily driver and if the underside is painted it can chip and rust again so as a thick coat of wax oil dont chip its best for a daily driver but if you want a show worth car its a good thing to paint it for asthetic reasons

like my fiesta turbo im doing for myself
