Default NEW style Passports

Just had a new style passport arrive for my little'n and noticed it had a chip in the back and also an antenna.
What the f**k is all that about the level of human monitoring is crazy.
I understand a chip can hold information, but what the hell is the antenna for. Seems where not as free as we think.
I know this was implemented in the USA without public knowledge, and seems the same here in the U.K. Surely they should have run its past the British public before putiing it into use.
Feels as thoughits an invasion of our privacy aswell as freedom.
Oh and they say its to prevent fraud, what with an antenna

Dont have it in my pocket mate.
Just stating my concern in regard to the implementation of being monitored without knowledge.
Hardly gonna let my 1 year old walk of on his own through passport control cus he has a antenna, whilst im at the desk with my old style passport .
Can really see its benefits now..NOT!

I would not worry about as any information the government have on us is usually placed on CD and lost

its just the new way, some people still only have paper licences, no need to change until its lost , address change etc.

sunday at the airport they had my image on the screen and details as he was loking at it, probably the antenna in the loop, all helps to keep everything more secure hopefuly

btw if you live in london, and have an oyster card, they know where youve traveled, same thing

tesco club card , know what you buy etc

i couldnt careless what is known, no reason to hide it !

It's not holding any information about you that they didn't have already, don't see the problem.

So what happens if you broke the antenna? Another interview and several pounds lost to get a new one?

If I'm not doing anything wrong, why do I need to be watched?

Again not a case of anything to hide etc but just seems an over kill and waste of money.
And as for all those not concerned, thats even more worrying.
Yes if the antenna becomes damaged in any way, your not allowed to use the passport.

Fast track sounds good to me - it's also saving tax money if they don't need as many people there. They already know from your old passport that you have been through the airport, it's now just being done easier.

I also don't see the problem.

its one of the 3 great lies from the government these days to push through anything they want. its either to help stop fraud, the help the war on terrorism or to save the environment.

Aint fussed by it having chips and aerials etc or what info it got on it, as said nowt gonna be on there that aint already known .
And if it stops any dodgy goings on so much the better .

Wont stop illegals tho i wouldnt think, as they got ways into the country other than walking thru customs .

The worst bit is if it true like someone said, that you wont be able to use it if you damage the aerial , and you can bet they wont just replace it free of charge , if people still got old picture ones with no chips what so ever in and can still use them why shouldnt you be able to carry on using the chipped one just without the convieniance of using the fast track method

not a bad idea IMO. on the way out to europe, all my mates got stopped and asked what they were going for etc. but i just went through straight away, no questions or looks. its a good as you it will be linked to a central database, amking it harder to fake passports. its not like they are monitoring everything you do at all times... if you had to keep it on you at all times, and they monitored where you went, then it would be bad, but this aint exactly big brother now is it...

its properly laminated in there atleast half a millemeter thick!... there is almost no chance you will accidentally snap it, unless you intend to try and do it... they are really hard to bend as a result of the thickness, to stop you folding it over in your pocket.
