Default Vista problems - NOW need to know where to get XP Home

Since I updated my laptop last week I've been living through hell.

one of the svchost processes is using all the CPU run time. The only way I can use the laptop is by disabling loads of stuff, like the sound etc

It's doing my tits in. Anyone have any ideas?

Apart from getting XP as thats what I'm about to do lol

have you got plenty of memory? Vista loves to eat it up. I wouldnt run it on a system with less than 1 gig, 2 if you want to be able to run any other apps

1 gig of Ram mate. Has been working fine for a year until I updated it last week. Now it's just shit. I fucking hate Vista..... None of my stuff works on it, and more importantly, I can't play worms on it...

OKay..... I've had it with Vista. Had it for a year and it's WANK. Utterly useless.... Knew I should have bought a laptop with XP instead of this garbage.

Where is the best place to get XP home. Preferably on the high street so I don't have to wait too long before I can start using my laptop again.

I dont like Vista either, i mean it ran ok on my pc but my sound doesnt install properly(it works but some extra sound features are not available) so my sound doesnt sound as good as it does on xp, plus xp just runs better, even if you have a super computer, xp will always run better.

Needless to say im now converted back to xp pro, until vista sorts itself out, which could take some time

End of the day, if your not bothered about the eye candy vista has then stick with xp, everything works, job done

Oh yeah and you can get xp with service pack two from here for Ł57 http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showpr...odid=OS-001-MS

It is OEM which means you get the cd only, obviously it comes well packed with the cd-key but you just wont get the shiney box microsoft put the cd in

What versions of Vista are you running?

I run Vista Business and have no issues what so ever.

Running on a Dell Optiplex 755, 1gb ram, on board video and sound, with SP1.

Never had an issue with it.

I have Vista Home Premium. On a compaq C500 notebook. 1 gb ram, and some other shit...

It's been shit since day one. None of my stuff works on it. It contsantly crashes..... I don't really care what it looks like, I just want it to work. Reliably.

So, XP is the future.. At least until they sort out Vista. I mean, I'm sure it'll be great in 3 years when they've solved all the bugs. Right now I want a working Laptop....

if your on a ship mate there wont be high street shops there
Hmm anyway high street shops dont stock xp anymore, so its online order only, even then its only selective sites that sell it, plus even if the high street sold it they would want over Ł150 for it.
How long you on the ship/holiday for? cant you wait till you get back
