boost cut
I'm really naffed off with my converted escort which is running Ofab efi management now.
if i run more than 6psi the boost cuts on a goood blast and then won't allow me to run positive boost(past vaccuum on my guage) until i stop and resit my brake servo vaccum hose in the inlet.
I've replaed the plastic/metal clip that holds the pipe in and find it pretty much impossible to pull out by hand now yet it still does it
I'm planning on going to sant pod soon as the cars runnning sweet but i can't with only 5psi
Help!?

when i try to run more than 6/7 psi it will boost to say 8/9psi then instead of holding that pressure it will cut boost then not let me use positive boost on my guage until i stop- is this wot limp home mode does, any postive pressure and it just judders
i'm sure it only self right when i re-sit the pipe but i will check

yeah sounds liek your hitting a boost limit.
limp home cut the ignition and when you try and give it any power it judders, sounds rought, spits, fars andwont give you any power at all.
as soon as ignition is switched off it seems to reset it self and it will run fine till the next time it over boost, but how long to leave it when switched off im not sure, try it your sellf, could be 1 min could be 30 mins..
but tbh it should not over boost at 8/9psi, you may have a map sensor fault, or maybe even a split vac hose somewhere?
give the plig on the map sensor a spray with some wd40, and check the vac pipe on it is free from splits, cracks etc, and being ofab, make sue the nipple coming off sensor isnt cracked around the base

thanks alot for the help mate
I'm gonna try it at more than 6psi soon see if it resets like you said with no alterations- i didn't think it was the ecu cus like you said i thought they could take 8/9psi easy- i'll check all me vacuum hoses.
don't suppose you know the best way to remove the brass piece of the brake vacuum hose clip on the inlet do you? i've changed the plastic little clip but i couldn't get the brass sleave out that sits in the inlet
btw great fez project aswell, very impressive your doing so much yourself

As Jay said it seems more of a map sensor problem, you could try to run without an amal valve and plumb in a bleed valve and set the boost to 8-9psi and see if theirs any difference other that i would get it on a machine to pin point the problem before you start spending

thanks guys, i have contemplated drilling the brass sleave out but i don't want swarf in me inlet and its harder than the alloy that surrounds it so i'll damage the inlet trying to lever it out
I'll check the map sensor as it seems like a likely trouble spot but can't disconnect the amal valve as its only already running a bleed valve.
will a diagnostic check at a garage maybe help? or are the diagnostic ports on these older efi systems not too great?
