Did you unplug both headlights when you done the test? A backfeed through the another bulb can throw you a mile. Check for corroded bulbs and fuses, I had an RS turbo which was trailered 100 miles all because the owner had a corroded fuse fitted, looked intact but was good for nowt. If you need more help PM me

I had same trouble with mine...causing all sorts or weird and wonderful problems including buzzing relays and melting multi plugs... Got an auto sparky round and he said it was faulty earths.

gonna be having a look see tomorrow, first port will be running a test earth, then will maybe try find a set of new stalks.... then take it from there....? i have tried to fiddle with the connections...
take the bulb out and plug the connector in, then try a peice of wire fron a good earth point on car and touch the metal outer part of the bulb and see if it lights up. This should tell you if you have bad earth to the cluster.
