Vosa regulations regarding speed limiters only apply to vans bigger than 3.5 tonnes. Bellow that do not need a limiter.

The train weight of a Connect might not be sufficient to tow a car. You need to check your train weight and work out how much your car, trailer and van will weigh when fully loaded. If it exceeds the train weight then you will be illegal if you tow with it.

it would be close, what does an average car trailer weigh? and just out of interest, what sort of penalty are you looking at if you are found to be slightly over?

All Ford vans from the factory are limited to 100mph although the speedo will always read more. There was an option of other set limits like 72 which can be removed by a dealer but the 100 is set and cannot be removed by a dealer.

As for towing a car, no hope! Even the smaller Transits can't do that legally.

Car trailers are around 700kg ish empty.

That braked towing weight just means you can tow a ton without ripping the brake discs apart every time you brake. Any more and you're beyond the design weight of the vehicle and illegal.

With the combo, the combined total must not exceed 2815kg including you sat in it with any equipment you decide to carry.

Slightly over and they will make you remove stuff or stop you from continuing on your journey. More than 300 kg over then they will spank you.
