Default Do you need a duct tube on a S2

I have a K&N induction kit on my S2 but just wondered if i need a duct tube. The way i see it if i do put a duct tube the cold air that is sucked by the filter is only gonna get hot when it enters the turbo only for it to get cold again when it enters the intercooler. If i dont put a duct tube the hot air the filter sucks in is gonna stay hot when it goes through the turbo but goes cold when it goes through the intercooler. I was arguing the fact with a mate that theres no point of a cold air duct tube on a turbo car but would be needed on a normally aspirated engine. Am i right

if ya intercooler is doin its job then you dont need a duct tube!...but saying that alot of people use them,no harm in trying to help the intercooler!...seen peeps take out there headlight to help the cause too!

imo cone filtes arent shit, they dont work well on a rr due to minimal air flow but out on the open road the air flow is more than sufficant, cold air is being pushed into the engine bay and hot air is escaping through the bonnet vents, best ducting to use is a mk3/4 heater hose as they are large diamiter and long enough to zip tie to the anti roll bar and go right up to the filter

the reason k&n put air ducting in with ther 57i kits is not just to feed the filter with cold air it also acts as an air flow aid because k&n decided that the filter would not get enough air flow stuck behind the headlight! This is also the reason people remove there nearside headlights whilst running the quarter mile. I also agree with the guys who put that cone filters are shite, because a panel filter is much better at filtering out foreign matter and protecting the vital bits like your turbo! than a cone filter will ever do! The only things cone filters are good for are freeing up room under the bonnet, the noise they make and the looks they give. The extra power figures they are supposed to give are bollox most of the time aswell!

okay so i take it nobody likes cone filters here. gotta say though that theres not that much induction roar maybe because of the the metering head. cheers for your advice may just stick a large duct tube for airflow sake
