Ive got a mk4 1400 escort rst replica wich im planning on putting an 1800 zetec engine in, ive got an engine witch i took out of an orion, i took all the ignition and injection wiring out with it, there is one multi plug wich plugs into the rest of the loom i need to know witch wires do what so i can wire it into my loom, also would an xr3i fuel tank and pump work for the injection system?

 

Helped a mate do this to a Mk4 EFi XR3i.

I believe easiest way to put a Zetec in a mk4 is to use an EFi XR3i since both engine use the EFI setup - therefore tank and fuel lines are compatible. Prob best to use the EFi XR loom and then see if the Zetec management loom plugs into it? I cant remember but I will try to find out.

cheers mate, it would be dead helpfull, changing loom int a big thing really but theres only like 9 wires that need wiring in, what else could they be besides lives and earths, do you think a hynes manual would help?

 

Umm...a VERY old diagram I made ages back to remind me of how I wired the EFI up to mine (FRST ECU, but XR2i engine loom).



That shows the wires on that multiplug that joins the engine loom to the car loom anyhow mate

 

Red Wire - Perm ECU Live
Big Black Wire (Green Trace on some) - Coilpack Live (Switched).
Small Black Wire - ECU Live (Switched)...must be seperate from the coilpack feed.
Green wire with Red Trace - Rev Counter Feed
Brown With Green Trace - Oil Pressure Light

Browns - One is the switched fuel pump earth I am told, and one is the earth. I earthed both due to wirign my fuel pump seperatly.
