Default Rs Turbo Gaskets.

Do you need one inbetween the turbo and the manifold?

I fitted a A & S Auto's manifold a couple of months back and both the manifold gasket and the turbo gasket have both failed on me

I have a new Ford manifold gasket to use but no replacement for the turbo/manifold. IIRC i'm sure there wasn't one on there originally

Don't spose you know of an 'easier' way of getting the manifold and turbo back thru the gap between the slam panel and the head do ya? lol

there is no gasket between the turbo and mainfold, to get the turbo in the bay try putting in by the gearbox and sliding it across then up u will have to try a few diff angles to get in but it will go

Mine has no gasket either, use some SILICONE sealer, no seriously it carbonises and seals it up nicely!!

tbh mate, youd be aswell just gettin both faces skimmed so they mate up,the gasket doesnt last long till its blowin again, puttin a gasket on the uneven surface doesnt really solve your probs, ive got a spare here which i bought but never used,pm me your address and ill stick it in a jiffy bag for you if you wanna try it,well when i find it as im movin house

easiest way i found to take out the turbo is by takin header tank out, take all head studs off, theres a groove on the front panel which was put there to take the turbo out, though if you dont want paint chipped off your front panel id find another way or just mask up the front panel as i done,oh and watch your rad

AFPMSL at Silicone sealer in there!

I have NEVER run a gasket there and have NEVER had a problem. The OE manifold has a nice flat surface as standard, as does the turbo, which is great. Get the AS manifold face machined flat (by someone that REALLY does know what they are doing) and you'll not have any more problems.

You using the proper Ford nuts? I use some ballistic ones on mine, they never come undone. PM me if you want the details Paul.

JamboRST

Cheers for that pal, i'll PM you my address now....

Christian and Beccy

I got new nuts from Fords Mr C, they look to be made of copper or something simular, but he assured me they were anti-rattle/vibration proof.

But i'll gladly have some info on your ballistic one please
