anyone know what actually happens?

from other peeps posts it normally happens in 2nd or third but what DOES actually happen.

1) does the box lock up completely and the car spin etc

2) can ya drive home

cheers + big up to ima for getting his fingers in there with the mapping

When all my boxes have gone I have always had 4 gear to go home with...
And it has happend 5 times

usually strips 3rd gear on higher power cars i have done that myself. not too sure on what will wear etc

I had 3rd gear shit itself one time had the rest of he gears but sounded like a bag of bolts under the car!!! I only had 2 miles to drive home too

Sounds like there is a big steel bucket full of bolts rattling around under your car (well mine did anyway, 3rd gear as it always seems to be)

If it will only drive in 4th, it means you have stripped the input pair of gears.
That is, the input shaft drive teeth, and the matching teeth on the laygear

If you've driven it home there probably will be, I'm afraid, where all of the broken bits have been fired around inside the box.

Ive done the 4th gear bearing on a 2wd MT75 box, and had all the others

All other failures I have seen have been 3rd gear tho :S
