how do you clean an idle control valve?

Default how do you clean an idle control valve?

can someone please advise me on how to clean one?

I used wd40 then sprayed it lightly with some oil.

do you have to take it to bits?

or do you just disconnect, clean, oil and replace?

Remove the 2 screws and disconnect the wire on the top. The valve is normaly tight to pull out of the throttle body. I use brake cleaner first to get the crap out of then use wd40 or some service lube to lubricate the idle speed control valve.

you can take it to bits and clean better - it is not difficult.
