What are they like as an everyday car. GF's looking to get rid of her Mini Cooper and get one.

Its the 1.8 model.

Brilliant mate!

I've still got that early 1.6 I wheel out in fair weather and am loathed to sell for what it owes me!

It can be left for a month and will always start, goes well, goes sideways even better and I look like the gay I've always wished I could be!

*EDITED* - Found a pic of the old girl:

Just make sure she's got power steering if she got a Mk1 mate [some Mk2s don't have it either iirc]

Its a late one Paddy, its got most things apart from air con (or so she tells me), not sure if its got a hard top or not as her Dads dealing with it, apparently they offered £8750 for her 04 Cooper which has done about 14k miles, so no doubt he delivered them back a swift kick in the gonads in return

Sound slike a brave shout for one at the moment mate! They're not exactly rare!

That one I've got has air con and I've never used it, what's the fucking point? Not like we live in a hot country and defeats the object of the roof anyway

The hard tops are dear to buy and a pain in the arse in my opinion. You can't just throw the roof back and enjoy the fresh air when it suits!

My ex girlfriend had one of the Mk2 versions and it was one of the best cars we ever owned. I drove it far more than my own car to be honest! People say they are hair dressers cars etc.. but it will out handle any std cosworth and with similar power it would give one a seriously good bashing round a track.

My wife's got one and it's great. I find myself stealing the keys on a regular basis. Hers is a Mk2 Anniversary edition. You'll both enjoy it!

I used to have a mk1, absolutely brilliant fun to drive. Had to get rid of it due to kids coming along

There are plenty of companies out there that do tuning for it (turbo and super chargers etc...).

Think there is an owners club as well

There is and I think I'm the youngest one on there by about 30 years

I wheeled the old girl out and took her to work today because of this thread, never fails to make me grin round the roundabouts
