What curry do people cook at home? Excluding ready made jars and supermarket warm ups

 

Funnily enough, I havent had a curry in MONTHS, and I've just put an Asda one in the oven.

I cheat curry with jarred Lloyds Grossman Chickeen Balti & Tikka Masalla

Tonight i made spagetti bolognesse myself from scratch hhhmmmmmm yummy

 

home made, by the missus, top notch, also i use a recipe from an old indian friend

 

cant go wrong with a spag bol, love the jars just want to make a real one from scratch, how adventurous would be wise to go

 

I make chicken curry from scratch, theres plenty of recipes on the net for curry's

 

This is what i did tonite for spag bol...

pack of lean mince
Mixed herbs
1 red onion
3 gloves of garlic
1 tin of chopped plum tomatoes
tomato puree

Heat olive oil in pan and bung in the mince add alittle salt and mixed herbs,
Cut up the red onion and add when the mince has gone a funny brownish/greysh colour,
Crunch and add the 3 gloves of garlic (or make it 2 gloves i luv garlic !!) leave to simmer,
While you boil the keattle and grab the pasta, once boiled pour into a saucepan bring to the boil and add alittle salt (pending on ur taste of course )
Then bung in the pasta and have the gas on medium heat or it will boil over !!
Back to the bolognesse add loads of tomatoe puree and the tin of chopped plum tomatoes and simmer
wait for the pasta and you have what ive just cooked tonite




Or if you like mushrooms. kidney beans or even carrots add it

My wife makes her own speciality, its called a PHOUL, hot as a phal but absolutely disgusting!!! Her words!!!

 

I can make a good curry. Involves pulping onions for the sauce etc not just mixing some water with a paste or something. Takes a while but is about as close to restaurant as you can get at home really....its about the only thing i can cook.......

 

my dad stayed in india for about a year when he was younger, so learned a good few recipe's out there!

i'm learning the now, but a lot of the time he makes his own mix up of a few curry's together.

We usually have chicken dopiazi, tikka massala, bhuna or chicken biryani

TBH some of the food I've eaten at local places has been tasty but some has been utter trash! Home cooked is the way foward!

I always use the jars, fave one at the min is Sharwoods Tikka masala 80p in Tesco last week !
I add loads of spices, onions, bay leaves etc

Might have a go at making one from scratch one day

Our lass come home yesterday and i'd made salmon in a peppercorn sauce with new potatoe's and corn on the cob for her tea

And she will be getting a chicken jalfrezi with pilau rice and popadom's for tea tonight

And tomorow i'm thinking chicken fajitas with garlic roastie's and garlic mushroom's

Who else come's home to fully home cooked food like that?

My other half does, I leave work at 5pm, go to tesco or asda for fresh ingredients, then home to start cooking.

I cook a home made dinner from scratch each night after i have been to work all day.

 

Absolutelly LOVE curry! Infact,love all indian food, would eat it 24/7 if I could..want curry for christmas dinner

 

pataks vindaloo is nice but could do with being a little bit hotter

 

Last one i did was over a 3 day period inlcuding marinading etc......
