Have you checked to see if the ecu is losing its ign live ?

Is the alternator charging ?

I've seen it before on other cars, not Fords though that if the ecu doesn't see 12volts then it will simply switch off.

alot of the 3dr and rs500's suffer from this thats mainly the problem

it's ok ticking over but once you try to rev it , it cuts out and starts back fireing and sometimes it would just cut out for no reason thats the problem i had anyway

martin found the problem for me

persoanlly for what it's worth i would just change the whole engine loom to a pectel engine loom or a dingy or ryan loom

at the end of the day the 3drs and rs500 are 20+ yrs old electrics start fooking up after 8yrs anyway

I was going to mention just changing the loom

Sounds like its already had enough and one thing you dont want is a part of it failing when on full chat !

Hope its fixed for now though
