Probably not worth repairing.

Get a second hand one out of the paper - much easier and prob. cheaper.

I assume you HAVE beaten the crap out of your telly, havent you?!

Well, thats how you fix them isnt it??

Our telly went wrong and we bought a new one.

Then we spotted an ad for the local TV shop, saying no charge if they couldn't fix it so we took it to them instead of the dump.

Their deal was, if it cost less than Ł25 to fix they would just do it and call us to come in and collect it or, if it was going to cost more they would call and give us the choice to take it away, have it fixed or leave it with them.

Two days later I went down and got my telly back working 100% for Ł25.

telly repairs are normally easy to do mate!

go on take it appart and have a go! normally dry joints! and as your teletext is still colour you tube should be fine!

have a look on the web for your part number, and normally there is fault finding lists out there!

as for the capacitors,, dont worry about it,,,,,it wont hurt me

more fun is the line output transformer .. it charges th screen with a high voltage ...but ...the screen acts like a huge capacitor ... got about a 5 inch spark jump from one
deffo sounds like a dry joint to me mate...
