hi all do i need to prim my oil pump on my 3 door coz as i have had to take my sump off due to a stripped drain plug hole.the sump has been off for 6 days now and oil has been dripping out off the pick up pipe.i have not touched the oil pump at all,and the oil filter is still on many thanks paz

 

yes you should prime it...you dont want any air bubbles in the oil supply!

 

i always prime mine buy machine oiling pump internals then apply some vaseline always worked fine for me mate and yes vaseline works a treat
if engine out then backfill pick up pipe with light oil and then block end with a touch of vaseline
little trick an old skool engine builder up the road from me showed me
always worked fine for me before anyone slates me
did this two mths aga after rebuilding my yb lump

 

easy way to do it - remove the distributor and put a 1/4" drive socket onto the hexagonal drive shaft and spin it up using a cordless drill
