Default Zetec Turbos

Has anyone succesfuly done a 1.8 zetec turbo using skimmed pistons? and what kind of boost can you run on them?

i have just done 150 miles in mine running it in and it has cracked all my pistons. ive been told i may need a decomp plate aswell as it is still too high compression, is this right? any help appreciated.

cheers adz

something is seriously wrong if you have cracked pistons running it in.

yer im just trying to find out if the pistons can take boost because the fueling was low so that might of tossed the pistons, but theres no point me putting new pistons in if they are jsut gunna melt again

Mate thats much more likely to be the inadequate fueling, how much boost were you seeing during running in period?

it was probably hiting about 5psi but i wasnt bringing on boost properly. how much boost should the standard pistions skimmed take? the fueling was exactly the same as when it was on a standard fiesta turbo i hadnt changed anything

it was fine as it was mate you know how much i ran thru mine for how long! all down to the map, what chip did you end up getting? which efi did you revert to? fiesta turbo or zetec? stick the omex back on and get it mapped once fixed. got any pics of the pistons?

Not sure then, should always fueling checked whenever you change something as important as a management swap

na not on an 1800 be a better idea on a 2.0 but the 18s are lower comp than them anyway. were you using standard fez injectors and everythin? strange that its done that at 5 psi without nailing it

your fine putting 1800 streight in with a zvh run a bar all day long no problems but with zetec head you lose alot of space in the chamber so you have to skim pistons or use de comp plate.
