New minimum days holiday - 24 days - what happens then?
As above, I understand that from this month there is a new law that the minimum amount of days off is 24
Currently my company is 20 days off per year, so does that mean come the end of October we have a quarter of the year left so we get a quarter of 4 so will we just get 1 more day off this year?

Most companies dont include bank holiday entiltlement in that, I think alot will now include bank holidays in the minimum, so you may find that you dont actually get any more.

i questioned my boss about this,
but as i get 20 days hol's, and 3 days bank hol's paid already, i will now get 1 more day a year paid.
And if its law they cant include bank hol's, that will just mean i wont get paid bank hol's as hol's no more, instead, get no pay at all.

i thought if you were full time a bank holiday must legally be paid? am i wrong?
I think you have to be paid for bank hols regardless.
We get 36 days holiday a year which includes bank holiday entitlement. We also have the opportunity to earn 13 more days through the use of compressed working week or flexi.

I work for a Local Authority, I get 28 days annual leave and can take up to 26 days flexi a year, this is in addition to the statutory bank holidays.
When I progress to PO10 my annual leave increases to 30 days

For the record, there is no legal requirement for companies to provide payment for bank holidays where they are not worked.
As such, I am sorry to say that the quote from the other site above is wrong.
If you get your bank holidays off and you have 20 days off per year then you will not be gaining any further holiday. That is the law.
The only people that I believe have a legal right bizarrely are farmers!

How about companies that pay double pay/day in lieu for bank holidays. My mate had his extra pay/day off from bank holidays removed due to the new holiday law?? and he has to work the bank holidays??

It's the Working Time (Amendment) Regulations 2007 if anybody is particularly interested in googling it... 4.8weeks from 1st oct 2007 (based on 5 day working week) = 24days.
