hi ppl, i wont get my licence for at least a year coz im only 16 but could anybody advise me on what would a nice insurence freindly ford, with a tiny bit of power?, i was thinking a fiesta mk2 xr2? any ideas?

An XR2 at 17......pretty sure your insurance company will ask you to bend over the nearest desk, to insure one of those. Looking at Ł3k minimum, if they will even quote you.

Unless you have a money tree or two growing in the back garden, my suggestion would be to start off small (a Fiesta 1.1, or similar), and get a few years no-claims under your belt.

 

Get a KA, escort cossie alloys, and a ford racing kit and still group 2 insurance!!

 

XR2 group 14 insurance!

Best buy a shitter for a year to be honest Insurance will come down loads once your have some NCB.

 

im sorry mate but an xr2 wouldnt be insurance friendly for a 17yr old!! i know its s**t but there we go!

 

as dan said above mate, buy a 1.1 to begin with and then sort out the looks of it and then maybe after a year or so you can stick an xr2 engine into that or even an rst??!!

a mrk 2 xr2 are in real turms very slow cars
anew fezza zetec would piss all over one
so how come the insurance ppl say charge you Ł2500 for a shed thats worth Ł500
and will insure a new fezza zetec for a lot less my mates mrs got one she is only 18 and cost her Ł780 for a say 6 grand car

get into the motor trade if you can and have the perks of the job drive any car up to 80 grand fully comp for Ł1200 a yr

 

tell you what dude, how about a Mark 3 1.6s ????? Stilll pretty nippy plus LOADS of insurance friendly styling parts available?
