An XR2 at 17......pretty sure your insurance company will ask you to bend over the nearest desk, to insure one of those. Looking at £3k minimum, if they will even quote you.

Unless you have a money tree or two growing in the back garden, my suggestion would be to start off small (a Fiesta 1.1, or similar), and get a few years no-claims under your belt.
