Default cleaning alloy wheels

the alloys on my impreza are absolutely filthy on the back - they look as if they have never been taken off and cleaned and you can't clean that bit of the rim on the car due to the brakes

the front faces are mint, it's the inner edge of the rim that you see through the spokes if you know what i mean

i have been scrubbing them with a nail brush and truck clean for 2 days now and it is not shifting the thick black layer of crud on there. i have also tried toilet descaler which works very slowly

have also tried white spirit but it does not touch it

any recomendations on what to use please if anyone has encountered the same problem?

Autosmart treble x is the nearest thing to neat acid that you can buy, without buying in bulk nowadays, i use it on the inside of my truck wheels, it will take shit off a blanket!!
Cost is about Ł9 plus the VAT for 5 litres

This works a treat on baked on brake dust,it will need a few applications http://www.polishedbliss.co.uk/acata...decon-gel.html that and some billberry wheel cleaner will sort it out,but like i said its a long process,a decent stiff brush will help on the inners aswell

The faces are really good tbh, well good enough for what they are, cleaned and polished and only have 1 or 2 bits that have marks on.

There 7 or 8 years old and this is there first clean for the inside

I put that bilberry stuff in my pressure washer bottle thing, spray it on at low pressure, let it sit for a bit then blast again at high pressure, then finish with a rinse of clean water. Works a treat!

I was a little confused by what you ment, but if you are doing the inside face of the wheel, where basically taking the wheel off the car is the easiest way of doing it, id probably use 1500 grit wet and dry and flat them back and then re lacquer the insides if its that bad.

I've used wolf decon gel which works ok but I find using a clay bar removes contaminants from wheels better than anything IME
