Headlight bulb upgrade?
Has anyone had any experience with these at all?
Are they any better than the standard jobbies?
Also, what's the difference between 4500k & 7500k?
(dont say 3000k)

Hi
don't know much about the items in the links you've posted but uprated bulbs are normally crap.
I've got a hid conversion that I'm testing at the moment on my 3door and so far it all looks bright
it comes with a 15 month bulb AND ballast resistor warrenty. It's simple to fit and is a good upgrade. IIRC the price is £130ish for the kit which I know is more than the cost of 2 bulbs but they are quite good
I'm going to take some pics from the driving seat shortly for the advert pics. Let me know if you want to see them.

These look like normally ebay tat to me!
I would guess they are simply halogens with a bit of blue tint added
If you want to upgrade your H7s go for the Osram or Philips silverstar or something like that. Check out autocar online for comparison.
I think the smart money is one the previous poster and going for a HID conversion upgrade kit. These fit into the standard units and need a bit of adapting, but you get the full on HID light output for your effort

Hi beam (pushed forward)

High beam (pulled i.e flashed)

normal driving (all the time)

outside from angle

straight

here are some pics if your interested in a kit let me know and I'll confirm the price as the first set was a test demo.
I could possibly do a group buy on the light kits.

AJ,
The difference between 4500K and 7500K is just the colour of the lighht as it is measured in KELVIN(K).
4300K is the nearest natural sunlight, and will get the most light on the road, blue look start around 6000k, with 12000K being almost completely purple.
The bulbs are a gimmick, the reason why you can't get HID look from a normal HALOGEN bulb is because HALOGEN light gives off the whole light spectrum, which the filters(colouring) on the bulbs hope to stop just letting the HID looking light through, but they are not very sucesful at it.
Another reason is because HID is an arc producing the light, and not a glowing filament that continually deposits.
The HID in the pics looks around 6000K, 4300K is so muc more effective.

can't believe that a boxster hasn't got HID as standard?
i've fitted HID kits to both of my bikes and they are just so much better than any incandescent bulb it's unreal. kits are coming down in price like hell. i got a single bulb H4 bi-xenon (means HID for dipped and main beam on a solenoid) for £65 delivered (would have been £100 for a 2 bulb kit)

I noticed that on fleabay too, they are getting very inexpensive now there is a lot more competition, my bro test drove a boxster/cooper/z4m last weekend and porkie did not have hid as std, he was surprised as he mentioned it.
