Default airbag...pug 306

Does anyone know why the light for the airbag on the dash, is staying on for on my 306?

the light for the airbag has just started to stay on , ive looked in the handbook but it just says "if light flashes for 5 mins then stays on see a peugeot dealer"

what can go wrong with the airbag? will the light staying on affect the MOT ? as its due next week

cheers

Think it means the airbag is not active now so could be a sensor fault? as for MOT not sure how it affects it

Hi mate,

On 306s its normally a fault with the pre tensioning seatbelt/airbag systems wiring for which I think is located under the drivers seat (check wires connections that they are all ok e.t.c) dont fuck about too much with the system though cuz when those pre tensioners go off they dont half go off!! With regards to the M.O.T Stick a bit of black tape over the airbag light, cant fail what they cant see!!

Cheers

Ross

Some of the older ones were ok, the only thing I can remember big problem wise with the XU7 Motor was that they used to snap cambelts at piece BEFORE the recommended 72k mile change, some of the 1800s were quite fuckin fast though!

How big a job is it to change the cambelt on the 16 valve engine?

And yes it is quite quick , i have surprised some unsuspecting victims in it, ahemmm (mattbibs being one)

Its not that bad of a job, accsess is a little bit tight, if youve done engine work before youll piss it, although being a peugeot everything normally doesnt come to bits as its supposed to (expect some skinned knuckles) How many miles has it done and what year is it mate?
