i was wondering why these are needed?
from what i understand you can get better boost control, but surely a boost controller can do this?
are they only needed when big amounts of boost are needed,or are they ok to run on average amounts of boost (say 20-25psi)
i beleive the tial range of wastegates are the daddys to have?
does the mean a non wastegated turbo is cheaper to buy than an internal
gated version?
cheers

its down to turbo size as internal gates start to struggle with big turbos and you start to get boost creep, as you can not get the exaust gasses out out through an internal hence why the external is needed as you can size them to application.
Tial are very good waste gates, but i have also seen cheap xs power ones work very well

so they are a good thing to have then?
what about the screamer pipe, best left as a pipe or routed into exhaust system to silence?
so whats the difference between the sizes then,is it best to keep 1 small for average amounts of boost (say 1.5 bar) and the larger 1`s for big outputs of boost.

So a 1000bhp V8 on a single turbo at 10psi, will need a bigger gate than a renualt 5 turbo at 30psi and making 200bhp

screamer would technically give better flow, but thatd be the end of your trackdays unless you silence it.
bigger wastegate is needed to run LESS boost rather than more. bigger the turbo and lower the boost you want, the bigger itd need to be.
